It’s the news Star Wars fans have been waiting for!
Disney has officially issued the release date for “Star Wars: Episode VII.”
The announcement keeps the studio’s goal of launching a new installment in the “Star Wars” franchise in 2015, while still allowing director J.J. Abrams time to overcome script delays.
“We’re very excited to share the official 2015 release date for ‘Star Wars: Episode VII,’ where it will not only anchor the popular holiday filmgoing season but also ensure our extraordinary filmmaking team has the time needed to deliver a sensational picture,” said Alan Horn, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios.
The change comes just days after screenwriter Michael Arndt left the project (writing duties will now be taken up by Lawrence Kasdan, who penned The Empire Strikes Back), and as Disney made a choice to give the Lucas film team more time to get the project completed without rushing it.
There’s no realistic doubt that the film will be a huge box office hit.
Shooting on “Episode VII” is scheduled to begin in the spring at Pinewood Studios.
