Seth MacFarlane Will Never Host The Oscars Again

Seth MacFarlane says there’s “no way” he’ll return to the Academy Awards as a host.

When Seth was asked on Twitter if he would ever return as the host … he tweeted back, “No way. Lotta fun to have done it, though.”

Critics trashed MacFarlane’s hosting job, calling his jokes inappropriate and sexist.

Some of MacFarlane’s jokes consisted of a comparison between “Django Unchained” and a Chris Brown/Rihanna “date night,” and a pondering whether the always-in-character “Lincoln” star Daniel Day-Lewis would have tried to free Don Cheadle if he had run across him during filming.

The news isn’t all that surprising.

In interviews leading up to the big night, MacFarlane said that his hosting duties, combined with his work on Family Guy and American Dad!, were taxing.

“I’m happy to be doing it and I will be thrilled to have done it, assuming I get out of there in one piece, but I really think this is a one-time thing for me,” he said in an interview with the The Associated Press.

“I just don’t like working 150 hours a week. I do like to have some sort of recharge time. I think it makes everything better. If you’re working around the clock, the work starts to suffer. And it hasn’t thus far, but I’m glad [the Oscars are] in a week and a half because I’m getting close to the point where I can’t do six jobs at the same time.”
