Marvin Gaye’s Family Doesn’t Want Lenny Kravitz In New Biopic

Marvin Gaye’s family doesn’t want Lenny Kravitz to play the legendary singer in an upcoming biopic!

Apparently none of the family, including Lenny’s childhood friend Marvin Gaye III, want him to star in the controversial film.

The film, entitled “Sexual Healing” (um, yeah working title), will focus on Marvin’s life in the 80s during his battle with drug abuse and depression before he was shot dead by his father in 1984.

Obviously, the subject matter has become the focus of much controversy, especially among Gaye’s family.

“The producers and directors of this film are very wrong and shameful … [They're] trying to do a film about a low period in his life,” tells Marvin Gaye III. “They don’t even know the whole story.”

Marvin and Lenny went to school together and are still friends to this day. This is why Marin feels so betrayed, why would his friend want to star in a film showing the dark side of his father’s life?

“I would hope [Lenny] doesn’t have any idea that we are against this film being done.”

Marvin Jr. and his family are meeting with lawyers to figure out a way to stop production.

Do you think a Marvin Gaye movie about his last days is a good idea? Or should the whole film be scrapped?
