The film will be directed by Morgan Spurlock, best known for his documentary “Super Size Me.”

“This is an incredible opportunity and an amazing moment in time for the band,” Spurlock said in a news release.

Simon Cowell, who will be producing the film, said in a statement, “Morgan is the perfect person to give that access-all-areas, behind-the-scenes look into what it’s like to be One Direction today.”

The film is set to be released on August 30, 2013.
