Fiona Apple Cancels Her Tour For Dying Dog

Fiona Apple has canceled her South American tour.

Fiona posted a lengthy, handwritten letter on Facebook, explaining that her dog Janet, a pit bull she found as a puppy, suffers from Addison’s disease and has a tumor in her chest.

“I just can’t leave her now, please understand,” she writes. “If I go away again, I’m afraid she’ll die and I won’t have the honor of singing her to sleep, of escorting her out.”

Janet no longer wants to go for walks, so Apple writes that the “decision is instant” to stay with her friend rather than go on tour.

You can read the rest of her letter HERE.

The letter does not specify exactly which performances will be canceled, but the note does appear to imply that Apple may reschedule the shows, asking fans to “meet a little while later.”

How heartbreaking. Thinking of you, Max.
