Nicki Minaj is definitely a top contender for the role of judge on “American Idol,” but guess who’s not too happy to see the musician join… MARIAH!

Mariah Carey reportedly hung up on producers when she was told Nicki might be joining the show.

Apparently Mariah had the impression that she would be the one and only woman on the judging panel, but clearly this is not the case.

According to sources, Mariah hates the idea of having to share the spotlight with Nicki.

Mariah, 42, is threatened by the fact that Nicki, 29, is much younger and way more culturally relevant than she is.

It is still unknown as to whether Randy Jackson will be returning as a judge or a mentor, but if he does become a mentor there will be one more seat to fill.

It is being reported that the show’s producers are worried about having two women judges and only one man. There might be a 4th male judge added to the table, making the sexes even.

I think the tension between Nicki and Mariah would be amazing television… just saying.
