Three-time Academy Award winner Oliver Stone releases the new brutal action crime thriller Savages on Friday.

The movie is based on Don Winslow’s 2010 bestselling novel of the same name and features a cast of greats including John Travolta, Salma Hayek, Benicio Del Toro and Blake Lively.

Savages portrays the clash between two young Americans who grow marijuana and a fictional Mexican cartel known for its savagery.

The director of “Platoon” and “Natural Born Killers” has been relatively low-key in the past decade. With a rockstar cast and apparently strong visuals, early reviews suggest a strong comeback from the director.

‘Savages’ hits theaters on July 6th.
