The “2012 MTV Movie Awards” were broadcast live tonight from the Los Angeles’ Gibson Amphitheatre.
Master of Ceremonies Russell Brand set the tone for a night of surprise moments and wins as well as electric musical performances.
Among the biggest moments was an introduction by Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler and an epic onscreen performance/award presentation between The Black Keys and Johnny Depp.
The Black Keys joked that their collaboration with Depp was forced on them by MTV.
In lieu of a wordy acceptance speech for his MTV Generation Award (he could care less), the show’s version of a lifetime achievement trophy, Johnny performed with The Black Keys.
Chart-topping indie rock band fun. got the show off to a rousing start with a rendition of their anthem “We Are Young,” performing inside a giant velvet-padded box and flanked by a 12-person choir and singer Janelle Monae.
The Hunger Games, Twilight and Harry Potter took home the most golden popcorn-shaped trophies. There’s really no surprises here.
The Best Kiss? No surprises there either.
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson locked the best kiss trophy for the fourth straight year.
Awkward is the new sexy.
Unfortunately, Robert couldn’t be bothered with the Movie Awards this year and Kristen looked like she just crawled out of bed.
