Katy Perry Releases ‘Wide Awake’ Music Video (Watch Here)
Katy Perry has just released the video for her new hit song, “Wide Awake.”
The video is a behind-the-scenes/fantasy world depiction of Perry’s life while promoting her album, Teenage Dream, over the past two years.
According to the video, life wasn’t always fireworks and whip cream bras.
“It’s kind of like the labyrinth of my life in the last two years,” Perry reveals about the video. “I just wanted to tell a story about myself kind of going through this journey, maybe sometimes trying to get out of the maze. There’s good parts, there’s bad parts, and the whole time there’s the younger version of me leading me through.”
The singer’s divorce to comedian Russell Brand seems to be alluded to throughout the song, but Perry reveals that it was her love of music that kept her going through those hard times.
“Of course there’s been a lot of things that went on last year that I had to get through and overcome and obstacles that I had to, you know, go through,” Perry admitted. “I think what kept me going is just, like, the purity of my belief in music and my love for music.”
Oh and she punches Prince Charming in the face… awesome.
The song was written for the “Katy Perry: Part of Me” 3-D film, which is slated to hit theaters on July 5.
