Donna Summer has died Thursday morning after succumbing to a long battle with cancer.
She was only 63!
The five-time Grammy Award-winner was in Florida at the time of her death.
Sources told TMZ that Donna was trying to keep the extent of her illness under wraps. They spoke to someone who was with Summer a couple of weeks ago and they said that she didn’t seem too bad.
No wonder this is such shocking news.
The singer came to fame in the 1970s and was known for her hits “She Works for Hard for the Money” and “This Time I Know It’s for Real.”
She is survived by her husband, singer and producer Bruce Sudano, their daughters, Brooklyn and Amanda and Summer’s daughter, Mimi, from a previous marriage.
Donna’s family released a statement saying, they “are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy.”
RIP Donna Summer. You will be missed.
