The Voice Season 2 Episode 1 Premiere Recap (Video)
The second season of the hit show “The Voice” returned tonight, and if the first episode is any indication, the talent is going to be as good if not better than last time around.

As with last year, the judges (Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine) sit with their backs to the contestants.
When they hear something they like, they turn around to indicate they want that person on their 12-person team.
Not only does “The Voice” pit singers against one another, but it also sets up a competition among their celebrity mentors. Singers who successfully pass the tryout must then choose their coach for the season.
Up first was RaeLynn from Baytown, Texas. She performed the song “Hell On Heels,” by Blake’s wife, Miranda Lambert. Adam turns around right away and Blake joins him shortly thereafter. Adam and Blake fight it out, but with his connection to country and Miranda, of course she goes with Team Blake.
The Standout? Jesse Campbell. Adam, Cee Lo and Christina turn around instantly, but Blake took some time. Jesse is a single dad who ended up homeless with his daughter.
Contestant Tony Lucca used to be a Mouseketeer with Christina Aguilera, who heard his voice for the first time in years from the judge’s chair. Awkward.
Juliet Simms growled her way through “Oh! Darling” but still managed to capture both Adam’s and Cee Lo’s interest. Simms brought Levine, literally, out of his seat.
The 29-year-old classically trained singer Chris Mann. “I know I have to sing like I’ve never sung before,” he says, and wow, he’s fantastic.
The second part of “The Voice” auditions airs at 8:00 PM on Monday [2/6], its regular timeslot.
