Seth Grahame-Smith‘s novel for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was such a compelling and divergent take on vampire lore, that Gothic filmmaker extraordinaire Tim Burton simply had to put his stamp on the story.

Relative newcomer Benjamin Walker (who incidentally happens to be Meryl Streep’s Son-In-Law) stars as Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States.

But Lincoln has a secret life… at least according to secret diary pages discovered by a vampire hunter named Henry Sturges (Dominic Cooper).

After witnessing the murder of his mother at the hands of a vampire, little Lincoln swears vengeance on the undead.

Yeah, I know it sounds ridiculously stupid… but the trailer makes it look alright. See for yourselves.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter will open in wide release on June 22nd. I’ll be checking it out to see if Trent Reznor will actually make an appearance as the vamp who kills Lincoln’s mommy, cuz that’s the rumor.
