Katy Perry thanked fans for their support and insisted they shouldn’t believe everything that’s written about the former couple in the press.

Brand filed for divorce from Perry in December, citing irreconcilable differences for the split.

“I am so grateful for all the love and support I’ve had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again,” Perry wrote on Twitter.

She continued, “Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, “close sources” or my family.”

Perry, who wanted Brand to be the one to file for divorce due to her religious parents, is said to be writing new songs about the split.

Brand admitted just days before the split that he missed his promiscuous past and it has since been claimed that he is hoping for a happier 2012.

Katy will be making her first public appearance since her split at the 2012 People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday.
