Zooey Deschanel Sings National Anthem at World Series (Video)

Zooey Deschanel performed the National Anthem during the World Series on Sunday kicking off the game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Texas Rangers.

“Would have loved to have watched the whole game but I had to catch a plane so I can go to work tomorrow. That’s all guys. I’m not a jerk,” she posted to Twitter.

Zooey Deschanel, who has been half of the band She & Him with M. Ward since 2006, pulled off her performance without a hitch, unlike recent national anthem flubbers Cyndi Lauper and Christina Aguilera.

New episodes of the twee darling’s Fox show, “New Girl,” have been postponed to make way for the baseball event. The show’s hilarious antics are shining light on Deschanel’s comedic talents.

The next singer set to perform the song during Game 5?

Demi Lovato!

“Only my lovatics could land me a spot singing the national anthem at the WORLD SERIES!!!!” she tweeted on Friday. “I couldn’t do it without you guys!!!!”
