Susan Boyle Covers Depeche Mode (Audio)
Susan Boyle has debuted her rendition of Depeche Mode‘s classic Enjoy The Silence.
Susan says of the song, which is taken from her forthcoming third album ‘Someone To Watch Over Me.’

“The melody of the song is just beautiful,” Boyle told Rolling Stone, “but really that lyric sounds like it will touch so many people in the way it touched me.”

What do you think… does it make her sound more edgy?
Enjoy The Silence was first a top 10 hit for Depeche Mode in 1990, while Tears For Fears made it to number three with their single Mad World in 1982. It was later an unlikely Christmas number one in a mournful version by Michael Andrews and Gary Jules.

It feels like this song does actually mean something to her – and somehow it works for me. That said, I have to take issue with her changing the lyrics from “little girl” to “little boy”. Why is it necessary for people who cover songs to change the lyrics to make them stay heterosexual, even when so minor as this? It just feels a little trivial.
