I love Britney Spears, I’ll admit it. She’s a sweet southern girl, but not really the sharpest tool in the shed, if you know what I mean. So I don’t know whether to laugh or go ‘awww’.

Brit posted a photo of a homeless man on her twitter account asking for help in locating him. The man in the pic is holding up a cardboard sign that basically claims he needs cash to buy the new Britney Spears cd.

Ever the sweetheart, Brit is looking for the ‘fan’ and posted the following to her twitter account alongside the photo; “If anyone can find this gentleman I’ve got a package with my entire catalog with his name on it…. -Britney”.

Now, the ‘awww’ part comes in with the sweetness of her wanting to do something nice for this man who is down on his luck. The ‘I kinda wanna laugh’ part has to do with the fact that the irony of the sign is lost on her.

I highly doubt that the homeless man with no worldly possessions is likely to have a cd player, let alone actually being a fan. It is more reasonable to assume that he used her name to gain attention and garner a few laughs from passers-by to be more willing to give him a handout.

Personally, I think it’s a brilliant marketing strategy on the part of the gentleman.
