Eddie Murphy to Host the 2012 Oscars

Well, there’s a first time for everything now isn’t there. Eddie Murphy can now add 84th Annual Academy Awards show host to his already stellar resume.

The show’s brilliant producers Brett Ratner and Don Mischer call Mr. Murphy “a comedic genius” and “one of the greatest and most influential live performers ever. With his love of movies, history of crafting unforgettable characters and his iconic performances — especially on stage — I know he will bring excitement, spontaneity and tremendous heart to the show Don and I want to produce in February.” Wow, what an honor, and I’m sure he’ll bring some of his own flavor to the show.

This year may definitely be the year yet! Not only am I excited to see what Eddie brings to the table, but he is just as tickled!

The comedian himself is looking forward to a once in a lifetime opportunity to build a show that is entertaining and fun for both fans and the Kodak Theatre’s live audience, as they take a look back and honor all the memorable moments in film from the past year, y’all better recognize!

Eddie Murphy earned his Oscar nomination for his supporting role in Dreamgirls in 2006.

He will soon join the ranks of the other funny emcee’s like: Bob Hope, Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Steve Martin, Whoopi Goldberg, Jon Stewart, Chris Rock, and Ellen DeGeneres. Do you think he’s got what it takes? Eddie Murphy, he’s the man!

Tune into the 84th Annual Academy Awards on February 26, 2012 airing live on ABC…and don’t be late!
