Roseanne Barr To Make TV Comeback
Roseanne Barr wants to come back to television, but will we take her back?
Apparently, Roseanne and 20th Century Fox are developing a scripted comedy about a “close-knit blue-collar family living in tough economic times.”
The new sitcom would be called “Downwardly Mobile” and it seems very reminiscent of Roseanne’s past work in scripted television.
“I honestly think ‘Roseanne’ is even more ahead of its time today, when Americans are, to use a technical term from classical economics, screwed,” Barr said in regards to her old television show.
“We had our fun; it was a sitcom. But it also wasn’t ‘The Brady Bunch’; the kids were wiseasses, and so were the parents,” she added. “I and the mostly great writers in charge of crafting the show ¬every week never forgot that we needed to make people laugh, but the struggle to survive, and to break taboos, was equally important. And that was my goal from the beginning.”
At the moment, Roseanne is being showcased on her reality TV show ‘Roseanne’s Nuts’, which shows her life in Hawaii and her macadamia nut farm.
Does this spell the end for the kooky reality show?
Most likely, and for those of us who love the show this comes as quite a disappointment. The show is just nuts! (pun intended)
Either way, good luck Roseanne!
