Nicki Minaj’s ‘Super Bass’ Is Huge Success (Video)

Nicki Minaj’s most recent single, ‘Super Bass’ is a major hit and it is only getting more popular.

The song has become the biggest single from a female rapper in nearly a decade. It is the highest-charting Hot 100 rap song by a solo female since Missy Elliott’s ‘Work It’ reached the No. 2 spot in 2002.

‘Super Bass’ is also only the eighth rap single by a solo female to reach the top 10 in the Hot 100’s 53-year history.

In an interview Cash Money co-founder Ronald “Slim” Williams revealed, “Nicki isn’t like any other female rapper. We knew she had the goods when Lil Wayne signed her. She’s not a female rapper; she’s a pop star who happens to rap.”

CBS Radio VP/Programming Michael Martin says, “‘Super Bass’ is a fun up-tempo summer song. She has pop sensibility and presents herself as a mass appeal artist. The video is vibrant, colorful and inviting.”

The fact that ‘Super Bass’ is a success is pretty astounding due to the fact that the song was really just a bonus track on Minaj’s debut album ‘Pink Friday.’

The single has sold 1.91 million downloads in 2011, making it the year’s 21st-biggest overall seller.

The song is everywhere!

Even my 12-year-old sister knows the whole rap portion of the song!

Clearly, Nicki Minaj has skyrocketed into pop stardom.
