Jani Lane of Warrant Has Died

Jani Lane, the former lead singer of the band Warrant, was found dead in Los Angeles Thursday night. The ’80s metal rock icon was just 47.

Lane exited and re-joined the band — responsible for such hits as “Heaven” and “Cherry Pie” — several times over the years. He also appeared on VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club.”

Lane’s rock peers were stunned by the tragic news, and have taken to their Twitter.com pages to express their grief over his passing.

Bret Michaels told fans, “We’d like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Jani Lane regarding their loss.”

Sixx stated, “I just heard the sad news about Janie (sic) Lane. So hard to swallow when people have kids. RIP”, while Steven Adler adds, “I’m so sad that I lost another dear friend to this horrible disease. I’ve known Jani for over 30 years and he had a heart of gold. Luv u bro.”

Lane is survived by four children, Taylar, Brittany, Madison and Ryan, from two previous marriages.
