Amy Winehouse Rep Denies Adoption Rumors

British newspaper The Mirror is reporting that at the time of her death, singer Amy Winehouse was in the process of adopting a ten year old girl from St. Lucia.

Winehouse is said to have been spending most of her time living on the Caribbean island over the past two years.

10 Year old Dannika Augustine and her grandmother Marjorie Lambert both spoke with The Mirror and said that Winehouse had fallen in love with the girl and wanted to adopt her and take her to London to live as her daughter.

“Amy was already my mother. I would call her mum and she would call me her daughter,” the girl told the paper.

“She was the most amazing person and I was looking forward to living with her here or in London. I cannot believe she is gone. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me.”

A rep for Winehouse states that while Amy may have known the little girl while vacationing in St. Lucia, that there is absolutely no truth to this story.

Winehouse died last week at the age of 27. Cause of death has yet to be confirmed.
