Lady Gaga Sued Over Japan Charity Bracelets
Lady Gaga is being sued over allegations that she’s scammed money from the sale of her “We Pray for Japan” wristbands, which should have gone to the victims of Japan’s earthquake.
“I’m suing Lady Gaga simply to hold her accountable for giving the money that she was raising for charity to the cause that she was trying to raise it for,” said Ari Kresch, an attorney with 1-800-LAW-FIRM, which is based in Southfield, Michigan.
“Everyone should come and visit this beautiful place. This is one of my most favorite places on earth,” said Gaga.
“But when you use your celebrity and your power as a musician to take money from people under false pretenses, that’s just wrong,” said 1-800-LAW-FIRM attorney Alyson Oliver.
Lady Gaga charged $5 for a “We Pray for Japan” wristband, another $3.99 for shipping and handling and $0.60 for taxes. The lawsuit alleges that Gaga got greedy by inflating the shipping cost and pocketing the extra and refusing to disclose how much of the $5 actually goes to the Japanese victims. Sounds like every single transaction on eBay to me.

“When we tried to communicate with the defendants in this lawsuit, all we got was, well, some of the money is being retained, but we don’t really know how much, is the essence of the response that we got,” Oliver said.
Do you think something shady is going on?

No nothing shady is going on, Lady Gaga loves her friends in Japan why would she get tattoos of Japan? Japan asked our U.S. ambassador what they could do to bring back tourism he said simply Lady Gaga. She has personally donated her own money to Japan she loves Japan this no scam. When Japan needed a friend who was there Lady Gaga, no one else in the entertainment industry has come to help no one Lady Gaga is Japan’s friend in there hour of need!
I’m pretty sure the deal mentioned on her website was you pay dollars (which goes to the company who makes it) shipping and handling (goes to fedex) and then you add a donation which goes to the red cross or whoever she was working with to raise money. At least that what I understood. But who cares?? She raised the most money for Japan anyways.
Retailers routinely set shipping charges higher than the actual cost. Look at amazon. Look at eBay. What I want to know is why a couple of bankruptcy/divorce lawyers are pushing for a class action suit in the first place. I doubt they even have legal standing much less the competence to know what they’re talking about.
Gaga raised $1.5 million for Japan relief with this effort. How much money did the ambulance-chasing lawyers donate?
Whoever originated this should be smacked and disbarred for even second guessing, that someone who is as devoted to her fans as Lady Gaga, could or would…misuse such a worthy cause for personal greed. She is such a wonderful, sweet-spirited being that cares about world causes! I hope your dastardly deeds come back to haunt you by showing everyone who is really attempting to profit from this.
This is a really crappy way to get your self noticed There are better ways then accuse Lady Gaga of fraud .Use the money that you will spend on this BS to send to the Red Cross like Gaga did Shame on you try to screw up a good thing.
Lady Gaga donates more time and money to charitable causes than any other celeb on the planet. You’d have to have dung for brains to believe these “allegations”. The name of the lawyers, “1-800-LAW-FIRM”, says it all.
