The National Memorial Day Parade Features Gary Sinise, Honors 9/11 Victims

Actor Gary Sinise is as passionate about U.S. military personnel and their families as he is about CSI: New York.

Sinise, former astronaut and Korean War veteran Buzz Aldrin and “Wheel of Fortune’s” Pat Sajak attended the National Memorial Day Parade, honoring 9/11 victims, according to the Washington Post.

A special tribute to 9/11 victims and first responders is scheduled and medal recipients from various wars and conflicts will be highlighted.

Sinise spends much of his time visiting with and raising money for troops and their families. He says he’s frequently teased by the troops about his role in Forrest Gump.

“I go out and visit the troops and they always call me Lieutenant Dan,” he said. “I figure that is just part of being in a successful movie, so I just embrace it,” he recently told Fox News.
