Lady Gaga might be one of the world’s most famous and powerful celebrities right now, but that certainly doesn’t stop her from going bankrupt!

Apparently, she over shopped on her elaborate stage costumes for her Monster Ball!

Her Monster Ball tour amassed a grand total of approximately $224.4 million, but she still managed to put herself into $3 million worth of debt, without even realizing it.

“I put everything in the show and I actually went bankrupt after the first extension of the [tour],” she said.

“And it was funny because I didn’t know! I had five No 1 singles, the Monster Ball’s doing great, and they said, ‘Well, you’re $3 million in debt’.”

Gaga spent 18 months on the road promoting her album The Fame Monster, and played over 200 shows in that time. Monster Ball is one of the all time largest concert tour earners.

Good thing she’s a frugal one when it comes to spending her money, otherwise she’d be in big trouble financially.

During the interview, Lady Gaga told Stephen Fry the only big things she had purchased “are my dad’s heart valve and a Rolls-Royce for my parents, for their anniversary.”
