On last night’s American Idol, one of the stand out performers for the evening was Beyoncé singing her new song 1+1.

What we didn’t get to see was her backstage rehearsal prior to going live. Hubby Jay-Z filmed her in her dressing room. No mics, no sound effects. Just brilliance.

Jay-Z posted the home video, quite possibly recorded on his iPhone, to his website Life & Times with a caption that read; “Sometimes you need perspective. You’ve been right in front of greatness so often that you need to step back and see it again for the first time. This is the dressing room rehearsal for American Idol. NO MICROPHONE. No effects.”

I was speechless. That voice is so ethereal, I could not have guessed it was so lovely. Albums and concerts can’t do justice to something that sounds like that.
