Are Ashlee Simpson and soon-to-be-ex Pete Wentz getting back together?

The 26 year-old Simpson filed for divorce from her rocker husband last month, but just yesterday they were spotted holding hands while out and about with their 2 year-old son Bronx.

The pair were sighted at a Starbucks at the Beverly Glen Mall in L.A. Thursday.

“Ashlee and Pete held hands, and Pete especially looked very happy,” an onlooker told PEOPLE.

According to the onlooker, Wentz had his arm around Simpson while they waited for their drinks, and she was smiling and leaning “lovingly” on him.

“[T]hey definitely looked like a couple again.”

Little Bronx was snuggled up on dad’s hip, completing the picture of a happy family.

Earlier this month, Wentz, 31, spoke of his high regard for his estranged spouse.

“It’s like Ashlee’s been my best friend for five years,” he told Ryan Seacrest during a radio interview about his new band, Black Cards. “She’s the mother of my child. I have nothing but love and respect for her. Going through something like this isn’t easy, but we’re friends, and the most important thing is to put our son first.”

The couples’ reps have been mum about whether or not the two are indeed reconciling. All along they’ve been saying the split is “amicable,” and it isn’t the first time they’ve been spotted out as a family. But the way they were cuddling up, it looks a little more than “amicable,” don’t you think?
