“Dancing with the Stars” judge Carrie Ann Inaba received a surprise proposal today from long-time beau Jesse Sloan.

It happened while the Hawaiian-born actress/dancer/choreographer was filling in for Kelly Ripa on “LIVE! with Regis & Kelly.”

As she dispelled rumors about being engaged and accepted a mock engagement ring from guest Jake Gyllenhaal, she had no idea that it was all a set up. The true plot was unveiled near the end of the show when Regis Philbin responded to a staged question about how best to propose.

The lights dimmed, violinists took their cue and out popped Sloan with a 2 ½ carat diamond ring. He then got down on bended knee and delivered a touching, heart-felt proposal. It was really too cute for words.

A tearful Inaba accepted.

She later gushed to PEOPLE: “Love is the one thing in life that makes everything worthwhile. To find a man that I love and have him love me in return is beyond words.”

Awww…isn’t that romantic!

Inaba, 43, and Sloan, 39, have been dating for two years.
