Top 10 Cartoon Theme Songs

Throughout our lives, we’ve watched cartoons at one point or another. But, there were some cartoons that really stuck out.

Wanna know why? It’s those catchy theme songs that just seem to reel us in.

Top 10 Cartoon Theme Songs

So, we’ve compiled this handy list of the top ten cartoon theme songs for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

1. The Flintstones

You always knew when “The Flintstones” was on. It was your typical Bedrock family working nine to five at the quarry for the man Mr. Slate. Anywhere you hum this tune, people know exactly what you’re talking about. Can’t wait ’til the guy pulls the bird’s tail to let you know it’s time to go home to your wife, kid and dinosaur pet? Us either.

2. The Jetsons

With the simplest lyrics known to man, “The Jetsons” crept their way into our lives. In 1962, the show depicted the flying car future of the 21st century. Don’t you want to send your kids to orbital school?

Afterward, you can get dropped off on a conveyor belt at your job and fold your car into your briefcase. How cool is that? I approve. The song was simple, yet fantastic.

3. Scooby Doo, Where Are You!

A child of any generation should at least get the opportunity to watch “these meddling kids” solve mysteries with their favorite canine and obvious pothead, Shaggy.

All Scooby needed to be able to sniff out the bad guys was a Scooby Snack. And of course, they were afraid of ghosts.

4. Transformers

Pshh, Shia Leboeuf. Pshh! You’ve got nothing on the spectacularly ’80s bit of retro awesomeness that is the original “Transformers” theme song. Sure, it’s absent Michael Bay explosions. But the choral vocals and the hilariously cliché laser noises more than make up for the absence. Wouldn’t you agree?

5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Give this theme song points for narrative economy. In only a minute it sets up the Turtles’ backstory, outlines the stakes and introduces the four main characters with pithy couplets. (If you needed a reminder: Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines; Raphael is cool but rude, Michelangelo is a party dude.) It also reminds viewers of the series title, a dozen times. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES!

6. Ducktales

We’re still not sure how life is a hurricane in Duckberg or whether or not we’ll be able to re-write history, but this song sure lured us in to try and find out. All we really wanted to do was dive into that huge vault of gold coins that Scrooge McDuck had.

7. The Simpsons

The song always remained the same, but the bar was held high for the intro sequence, considering they changed it up all the time. This version, which features a snippet of the famous score from Stanley Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey’, shoots us up into the cosmos for an alien’s eye view of Springfield. After 22 seasons, it’s this inventiveness that keeps us tuning in. But we’ve got to ask: Hasn’t Bart been ten forever?

8. He-Man

Even though Adam AKA He-Man spoke over the theme song, you couldn’t mistake the song or the cartoon. Together with Battlecat, He-Man protected the powers of the Castle Greyskull from the evil powers of Marc Anthony Skeletor. Still, “He-Man” is a beloved favorite and even spun-off to give us “She-Ra”.

9. SpongeBob SquarePants

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS! If you’ve heard the first part sung by a pirate and didn’t sing along then you must not have had children between 1999 and now. The opening sequence, featuring Spongebob playing his own nose like a flute, captures the goofy charm and boundless optimism that made the Nickelodeon show a sensation. Are ya ready kids?!???

10. Jem

Jem and the Holograms were “truly outrageous”. And how did we know that? Because, who else has a pair of earrings that turn you into a rock star with the coolest computer around. Yes, that would be Synergy. I’m not proud that I know that.

Jem is her name and no one else is the same. Ha!
