Rihanna’s ‘Rebelle Fleur’ Tattoo – Photo

Rihanna wants everyone on the planet to know how much of a “flower rebel” she is!

She tattoo’d the words in cursive, “Rebelle Fleur” on her neck. There’s only one problem, she meant to say “rebel flower”. Doh!

In addition to showing off that bright red hair, she’s also sporting some new ink. Pop Eater reports that the singer’s new tattoo is actually a typo:

Whoops! Looks like Rihanna should have consulted your high school French teacher before getting her latest tattoo. The music superstar’s newest ink reads “rebelle fleur,” but someone forgot to tell the ‘Rude Boy’ singer that in French, adjectives typically follow the nouns they modify. To translate as “rebel flower,” which we assume is what she intended, that tattoo should read “fleur rebelle.”

This isn’t the first time a celebrity got something grammatically incorrect on their bodies. Hayden Panettiere and Coolio are both suffering with the permanent imperfections.

Hayden got “Vivere senza rimipianti” tattoo’d on her side, which was supposed to be “to live without regrets”. But, it was supposed to be “rimpianti”, instead. As far as Coolio is concerned, he was supporting Insane Clown Posse on their most recent tour. He got “Jugalo cool” tattoo’d on his arm, which we all know is spelled incorrectly. He has no plans of changing it.

Which is worse? Something misspelled on your neck, side or arm? What do you think? I’m always afraid to get a tattoo in another language. How do you know it doesn’t say “chicken”???

“its french”

Yeah, and it’s wrong.

“rebel flower” en frençais would be “fleur rebelle”

Mathieu | August 29th, 2010

I’m french, and I agree: fleur rebelle is the translation of rebel flower.
