The author confirmed the news at the “Avatar” press booth at Comic-Con last night, saying that Brad has just signed on for the lead in the movie.

MTV reports:

According to Brooks, the studio is currently targeting a Summer 2012 release for “World War Z,” which chronicles a worldwide zombie outbreak through the first-hand accounts of survivors. The original screenplay was penned by J. Michael Straczynski, but was later rewritten by Matthew Michael Carnahan.

Brooks said the studio recently received a new draft of the “World War Z” script, and “Quantum of Solace” director Marc Forster is still attached to direct the film.

Brooks said, “I’m glad they took their time, and are trying to make the best zombie movie they can. I’m so glad they stayed with the project and so glad they found the right team.”

This makes me want to watch “Zombieland” all over again. Are you excited to see Brad in a zombie movie? It’ll be a cool change from what we’re used to seeing him do.
