American Idol: Ryan Seacrest’s Shocker
Prince of the Cuddles (David Archuleta) and Rihanna took the stage last night as Ryan announced that the results were going to be “shocking.” I immediately thought that Tim Urban squeaking by again is hardly a shock.
The three remaining girls were sent to the safety couch and Jason Derulo takes the stage. This was some guy who didn’t cut it in season 7. Kara DioSTFUALREADY took him under her chicken wing and he is singing “In My Head.” It is also revealed that Adam Lambert will be bringing his glitter madness to mentor the hopefuls.
David Archuleta also represented season 7 runner ups. He sang “Imagine” for the 17th time (I told you…every season someone tries to sing it). Seriously this is at least the third time he has sung this on A.I. The song is great, but wouldn’t you…oh…I don’t know….use this opportunity to sing something from an upcoming album? Eye rolls as I used this time for a bathroom break.
When I surfaced from the loo, Ryan finally got down to announcing the bottom three. Here is where the shocker came. Casey James, Lee Dewyze and Tim Urban are all safe, leaving Big Mike, Aaron Kelly and Andrew Garcia dwelling in the bottom. Further dismay comes as Aaron is sent to safety and Andrew and Big Mike are left to battle it out.
Before they reveal who the axed contestant is, Rihanna performs. She took to the stage and sang “Rock Star 101” in a black PVC suit.
Finally, Andrew and Big Mike are done throwing shade and ready to find out who is going home. Seriously, Andrew had a serious case of the stabby eyes. He looked like he was going to cut someone before Rihanna performed.
Big Mike is announced as this week’s loser and I am questioning America’s taste. The “save” option is enforced and the judges have mercy on Mike. He is saved and that means a double elimination next week.

David was amazing as usual. Rihanna stunk. Now that America has seen there is NO comparison between David and aaron, the big question is when is aaron going to be sent packing. Thank you David for saving the night.
Just so you know, David was asked specifically by Simon Fuller to come to Idol and sing Imagine. David has said before that he didn’t really plan to sing Imagine anymore since he wanted to leave it on the Idol stage. It was not his choice to perform it, but he was honored to do so last night.
Michael did not deserve to be at the bottom of the vote count even though his previous night’s performance was not his best.
You should do a little research before you go jumping to conclusions about David Archuleta. As was said by bella, David was requested by Simon Fuller to guest last night and reprise Imagine. David is very appreciative of the opportunities that have been given to him by Simon Fuller and would never have considered turning him down. As usual, his performance was very moving and his vocals amazing.
Archie looks like an old child from the planet V. I forgot to mention..before letting him go, they implanted on him a device than gives a reasonable voice, thinking that human can be tricked.
NO WAY!
I liked David. I thought he sounded nice. Still, not a big fan of this year’s Idol.
Simon Fuller specifically asked David to come on the show and sing Imagine as a tribute to John Lennon. David did more verses, changed the arrangement and performed it on piano. I thought it was beautiful as did all of the articles I saw in the major mainstream and celebrity press. As for David’s new album, we expect it in about two months. Right now they are trying to choose the first single and have not yet decided which of the many songs David has worked on and recorded will be going on the album. The ones that don’t go on the album will belong to the writers so they can sell the song to another singer. So bottom line is no – he could not have just gone on the show and sung something from his upcoming album.
