Since “Valkyrie” went over so well, and nevermind the previous “Mission Impossible” movies, we’ve just heard that Tom Cruise is reprising his role as Ethan Hunt in the franchise.

“Deadline Hollywood” broke the news earlier today:

Paramount Pictures today will clinch has clinched its deal with Tom Cruise to reprise his role as Ethan Hunt in Mission Impossible 4. Cruise will produce the film with J.J. Abrams. They are looking for a director, but screenwriters Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are already attached to write the script.

They will begin shooting this summer, for a planned Memorial Day 2011 release. At least they’re bringing back J.J. Abrams.

Update: Tom Cruise has just issued a press release regarding the movie. He confirms what we already know. Way to go Tom, only five hours too late.
