Simon Cowell Produces Haiti Charity Single, ‘Everybody Hurts’
Many celebrities have joined the fight to help the victims of the Haiti quake and now Simon Cowell has joined the bandwagon.
UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown asked Simon, the brains behind “American Idol” and “X Factor,” to orchestrate a single that will benefit the earthquake victims of Haiti.

Cowell immediately got busy, and has assembled an all-star cast to record a remake of REM’s “Everybody Hurts.”
“I wanted to do something for Haiti so when I had calls from The Sun and the Prime Minister asking if I would get involved I agreed immediately. We are going to do a single. We only made the decision today. I have got to get it together in 48 hours.”
The recording of the song kicked off in London over the weekend with “X Factor” judge Cheryl Cole and British act JLS, whose Oritse Williams lost relatives in the 7.0 earthquake that has so far claimed the lives of at least 150,000.
The recording will include artists such as Susan Boyle, Mariah Carey, Leona Lewis, Jon Bon Jovi, Rod Stewart, and Miley Cyrus.
Also expected to record their parts soon are Take That, Michael Bublé, Westlife, Alexandra Burke, James Morrison, Mika and James Blunt.
All proceeds will be split between the Sun’s Helping Haiti fund and the official Disasters Emergency Committee appeal. It has not yet been announced when the single will be released.

Wow. Simon has a soft side. It’s a refreshing change from his hard-a$$ image on American Idol. I hope this endeavor is successful. Can’t wait to hear the song.
