Alec Baldwin To Quit Acting
Don’t you just hate when famous people sit around and feel sorry for themselves? Alec Baldwin says his movie career is such a failure that he’s retiring in 2012, claiming he doesn’t have any interest in acting anymore and that he’s young enough that he could do something else. He’s been nominated for Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, an Academy Award, received several Emmy nominations and even wins for his work on his hit tv show “30 Rock,” and is already garnering some Oscar buzz this year for his work in his upcoming romantic comedy “It’s Complicated.” But apparently that’s just not cutting it anymore. Is this a prelude to a political career?
“I don’t have any interest in acting anymore,” Baldwin, 51, told “Men’s Journal” in an interview for its December issue. “Movies are a part of my past. It’s been 30 years. I’m not young, but I have time to do something else. I consider my entire movie career a complete failure. The goal of movie-making is to star in a film where your performance drives the film, and the film is either a soaring critical or commercial success, and I never had that.”
Baldwin also told “Men’s Journal” that he avoids the movies that he’s made. That makes two of us! It’s not the first time Baldwin has mentioned his intention to quit acting. He told “Playboy” magazine earlier this year that he would retire at the wrap party for “30 Rock” in 2012. Baldwin has previously stated an interest in politics, but has not discussed his future options.
Ummm boo-hoo! ‘I’ve made millions and millions of dollars and most people who have seen my movies don’t love me. My career is just a failure!’ Thats like Chuck Norris saying he doesn’t think he’s badass. Although, this is a good way to drum up publicity for that new movie with Meryl Streep he has coming out.
What Others Said:
Hecklerspray: “This is clearly a tragedy, because that means that Stephen will get promoted to Most Famous Baldwin.”
Gawker: “Oh, cheer up, Alec! It could be worse. You could’ve been in Half-Baked or Forgetting Sarah Marshall or Attack of the 50-Ft Woman. (Actually, that last one sounds kind of good.)”

Probably publicity, yeah. I have to admit that I don’t remember any of his movies…Perhaps he’s quitting because he doesn’t have a stellar film career to speak of.
