Maura Tierney Drops Out Of TV Show Due To Cancer
Maura Tierney, former star of “ER” and “NewsRadio,” has been forced to drop out of her role on the upcoming new series “Parenthood.” The reason? Cancer. The show was originally delayed due to her “mysterious illness.” But upon having some tests run, a tumor was discovered in one of her breasts and the series was pushed to the mid-season calendar to accommodate Tierney’s medical treatment. Unfortunately, it now appears Maura will need further treatment causing her to have to withdraw from the show.
“While we are saddened that Maura Tierney won’t be able to continue in her current role in ‘Parenthood,’ our main concern is for her quick and full recovery,” an NBC spokesman said. “Our thoughts and best wishes are with her.”
The studio is reportedly now scrambling trying to find another actress to fulfill her role. No mention as of yet as to how this may affect the show’s rescheduled premiere date. We wish Ms. Tierney a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her return to acting very soon.
