Lily Allen Is An Article Thieving Hypocrite
By Roberta | September 22, 2009
Lily Allen is making a new name for herself as a crusader against online piracy. She says that piracy in the music industry is taking its toll on musicians like herself and she wants to do something about it.

She started a new blog called “It’s Not Alright” and has been quoting people from other bands and record labels stating that the future of music is dead if people continue to steal it.
Yet, she stole words from a TechDirt article in whole, without any proper accreditation.
Can we say…hypocrite?
The article in question was about 50 Cent’s views on piracy in the music industry:
Famed rapper 50 Cent (Curtis Jackson) was apparently on CNBC recently talking about his “business acumen.” I have to admit that having three different people all trying to interview him at once is rather annoying — as they almost never let him complete a thought. However, when they ask him about piracy, and whether or not it makes him angry (around 2 minutes), he responds that: he sees it as a part of the marketing of a musician, because “the people who didn’t purchase the material, they end up at the concert.” He says that people can fall in love with the music either way, and then they’ll go to concerts. He notes that you can’t stop piracy either way, so why try to fight it? He also talks about other business opportunities for musicians.
She posted this without quotes or credit to the author, as her own, here.
It seems a bit hypocritical to steal someone’s work without any attribution to the source, and then only apologize once she’s been caught:
50 CENT POST
I THINK ITS QUITE OVIOUS THAT I WASNT TRYING TO PASS OF THOSE WORDS AS MY OWN , HERE IS A LINK TO THE WEBSIITE I ACQUIRED THE PIECE FROM . Apologies to Michael Masnick
Way to go, Lily. Way to support your own cause! While you’re looking up words to use on your blog, try this on for size:
# Hypocrite
# Main Entry: hyp·o·crite
# Pronunciation: \ˈhi-pə-ˌkrit\
# Function: noun
a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings
With one blog posting, she’s already spoken louder than the words she’s using to debate piracy. Lily fails. Next?
