Harry Potter & The Forbidden Journey Details Revealed

Universal has just unveiled the details behind the new Harry Potter attraction at the Universal Orlando Resort, set to be rvealed in 2010.

The ride is called “The Forbidden Journey” and was named by author of the series, J.K. Rowling. Rowling has yet to make the journey to see the rides and gift shops yet, but she has been advising on its progress.

The ride reportedly takes guests through scenes and rooms used in the Harry Potter movies. The ride is done in a remake of Hogwarts Castle, which is made to look like it’s 700 feet tall.

Guests will enter the ride through a station archway named after Hogsmeade. Other attractions on the set of the ride include the “Dragon Challenge”, which is a roller coaster named for the “Triwizard Tournament”. Also, there’s a family roller coaster called the “Flight of the Hippogriff”.

The producer, Paul Daurio, said, “Along those journeys they’re going to be swept up into the greatest parts of the movies and the books. We’ve pushed every technology available to us to give guests a theme park experience unlike any they’ve had before.”

All of the shops are seemingly authentic, just like the movies themselves. Honeydukes is a shop that sells chocolate frogs and “Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans”. You can buy magic wands (or let the wand choose you) at Ollivander’s and Sneakoscopes can be found at Zonko’s. The attraction also has a Potter-themed restaurant, “Three Broomsticks”.

Guests can send letters from The Owl Post, which, as you know, is the only method of getting and receiving mail in the movies. The letters will receive a certified Hogsmeade postmark.

Wow, it sounds like they really went all out for this themepark experience. It opens next year. Can you wait to check it out?

Hi,
I like this article but..
last night i went to the midnight premiere of harry potter and the half blood prince! I was honestly so disappointed! was it just me or did it seem very choppy and for some reason didn’t feel like it was a harry potter movie. Don’t get me wrong some of the parts in it were either really funny or somewhat scary but i really was not satisfied. I don’t know, what did you think?? Am i wrong? Give me your opinions..
