Fashion Faceoff - Glenn Close & Rose Byrne in Bazaar
By Allie | September 17, 2009
Earlier this week Pink and Shakira experienced an accidental fashion faceoff at the VMA’s in identical Balmain dresses.
With extraordinarily good timing, in the October issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Damages costars Glenn Close and Rose Byrne stage a style showdown of their own.
Of course, Glenn Close owns it!

Dressed in “age-appropriate” versions of the same look, the stars enact a fashion rivalry inside the magazine pages - while revealing in the interview that their offscreen relationship is anything but competitive.
GLENN CLOSE
On her approach to style:
āIām such a fashion maven. I come from a family that never shopped. When we were little, my mom would go out and get me one really good dress for winter, one really good dress for spring or for summer, and you wore them until you grew out of them.ā
On Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz taking inspiration from her Damages character, Patty Hewes, for his new capsule collection of suits:
āI see how Patty could be a fashion inspiration. I don’t think she’s a fashionista herself; I think she has a great personal shopper.”
On costar Rose Byrne:
“I love Rosie. She’s a real Aussie girl; she can get down and dirty.”
ROSE BYRNE
On her fashion faceoff with Glenn:
“I had performance anxiety wearing the same outfits as Glenn.”
On her approach to style:
“You know, I’m Australian, so I’m not too flashy or glitzy…I’ve stopped dressing for other people. If I think I look good, that’s the most important thing.”
On the one item she’d kill for:
“Oh, one of those hot Balmain dresses that are like a trillion dollars.”
