Well if a top rated show like “American Idol” won’t take you back, and a spot on “Dancing with the Stars” seems like a long shot due to your feud with co-host Carrie Ann Inaba, then I guess this is the next best thing.

Paula Abdul is reportedly in talks to guest-star on “Ugly Betty” for an episode in the upcoming season. Details of Abdul’s role are being kept secret, but sources say she would play a temp at the Mode offices who becomes close with Becki Newton’s character Amanda. Hey, at least Betty will have someone around to drink with.

Paula is a bit kooky, which is part of her charm. I’m sure she’ll fit right in over at Ugly Betty… But given all the guest starring roles the show has dished out, one would think they could give Paula something a little better other than an office temp.

Don’t worry too much for Paula. After all this drama that has been circling her lately, other show offers and jobs reportedly be offered to her, she might end up right back at “American Idol.” This has been a theory since the press storm started. She is either smarter than we give her credit for or has great handlers.

If Idol’s manage to make an offer worthy of her…talent…then she will come out on top. Abdul will have scored a bigger paycheck, tons of press and a couple of other gigs to fund her vodka club membership dues.
