Susan Boyle’s US accent

She’s found international fame overnight; Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore are her fans and she turned down dinner with President Barack Obama.

This is Susan Boyle.

You’ll know who she is by now – she appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show last night with Simon Cowell.

There was something a little bit different though about the Scottish 48 year old church volunteer… she appeared to have put on an American twang!

This usually shy and reserved lass seemed confident and relaxed as she took part in a video interview with Oprah and Simon.

Happy to have Oprah’s camera crew in her small home in Blackburn, Scotland she told Oprah that her mother used to sing to her as a child and how she’s sang in a few choirs but stopped for a period two years ago when her mum died.

Speaking for some time, she sounded like she was forcing an American accent, using words such as ‘awesome’ – no wonder they had to use subtitles!

I love ‘ol Sus – she has my vote but little word of advice: if you wanna ‘crack’ America don’t force an accent – a Scottish/American voice just doesn’t gel well.
You rock just the way you are!
