High School Musical 4 in the Works
After breaking out “High School Musical 3″ in theaters, where it grossed a reported $250 million worldwide, the impending “High School Musical 4″ will premiere in 2010 back on Disney Channel, the network announced Tuesday.

Production will begin later this year on the fourth film in the successful teen musical series. This one will involve “a classic love triangle set against the cross-town rivalry between the East High Wildcats and West High Knights,” according to a press release.
And while it will be written by Peter Barscocchini, who wrote the first three, and return Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush as executive producers, it will introduce an entirely new cast of characters, said Gary Marsh, president of entertainment for Disney Channel.
“In crafting this next iteration, we’ve challenged the entire creative team to raise the bar again — and create something truly worthy of this extraordinary global phenomenon,” Marsh said.
No word on the involvement of Kenny Ortega, who directed and choreographed the first three versions of “High School Musical.” He’s busy currently on preproduction for the remake of “Footloose,” also due out in theaters next year.
* This picture has nothing to do with the movie
* Kenny Ortega probably won’t direct.
* None of the original actors will be in it. Probably.
