Kanye West’s Alter Ego, ‘Tokin’ Black Guy’

By Roberta | January 27, 2009

So, we were checking the AllieIsWired inbox and noticed an email from a guy who refers to himself as the “Tokin’ Black Guy“. Also in the email were two of his tracks, “Body Clock” and “Turn My Music High“.

We are a curious bunch, so dig we did.

Who is this wondrous creative artist who refers to himself as the “Tokin’ Black Guy“? Well, you know how Beyonce has her alter-ego Sascha Fierce? It’s not beyond Kanye West to have an alter-ego, as well. He blogs, so I wouldn’t put it past him.

Here’s the email from Kanye West thanking us for not printing the emails we’ve received and giving us permission to use the MP3s.

Have a listen to his song, “Body Clock“:

Tell me that doesn’t sound like Kanye West sans the vocoder or auto-tune. I bet you that he’s trying to test the waters to see if people are actually digging his music without the evidence of his arrogance clouding their judgment.

And his other track, “Turn My Music High“:

What do you think? I think it’s him, for sure. I guess it doesn’t help my theory that this Tokin’ Black Guy is also signed to Kanye’s G.O.O.D. record label, now does it?

For more information on TBG, check out his MySpace page. Him and Kanye are friends, too. Coincidence? I wish I were a newcomer with no real connections hooking up with Kanye’s label.

And you gotta love the t-shirts, of which you can pick up here:

Kanye West is the Tokin’ Black Guy, there I’ve said it. Now we can all go about our day.

I got those emails too. I don’t think Tokin’ Black Guy is Kanye. That first tune is pretty bad, but the second one you’ve put up is decent.
