Rare John Lennon Drunk Recording Sells for $30,000

A six-minute “drunken recording” done by John Lennon has fetched a sweet $30,000 at auction at Bonhams and Butterfields in L.A.

The auctioneer reported that the Beatles singer revised the lyrics to “Just Because” by Lloyd Price:

Just a little cocaine will set me right
Wanna take all them new singers
Carol and the other one with the nipples
I wanna take ‘em and hold ‘em tight

The recording was made during the time when John left his wife, Yoko Ono and moved to Los Angeles. It was then that he also had an affair with his assistant May Pang. This period was referred to as their “Lost Weekend“.

The recording has never been aired to this day. Think the owner will allow the song to hit the airwaves, or the archives, for that matter?
