Rosie O’Donnell Premieres ‘Rosie Live’ - See Video
By Allie | November 13, 2008
Once upon a time the airwaves were filled with TV variety shows. There were stars like Sonny and Cher and Donny and Marie, and further back, The Ed Sullivan Show and The Carol Burnett Show.
Well, Rosie O’Donnell remembers that kind of TV entertainment, and she thinks it’s what America wants now.
The news today is that Rosie has booked Ne-Yo and Alanis Morissette to provide the musical portion of the program. The plans for the rest of the hour include a topical monologue, which Rosie should have no problem pulling off because she did one every day on her daytime talk show.
There are also going to be musical production numbers, a staple on The Carol Burnett Show, as well as comedy sketches. The press release from NBC promises that they will be hilarious.
Rosie Live will prmiere on Wednesday, November 26th, on NBC.

I like Rosie, but the show was awful. I don’t think she has the personality to do a show that’s all about “me…me…ME”. She was trying to copy some 60’s and 70’s variety shows (I guess it was because we haven’t had a variety show since then, so there was nothing else to copy), and she doesn’t have the personality for that either. If she was going to copy something, it should have been Lawrence Welk, as that would fit her much better. I was mad when Clay Aitken didn’t sing, and I don’t want to watch a family show and feel mad. Prime time is supposed to be “wind-down” time. Furthermore, we really need a new television station that is pro-white, pro-straight, pro-love, good, family, funny, happy, truthful, and Christian (not meaning Bible-toting, but meaning anti-bad). I really am about ready to throw my television in the garbage, I’m so sick of it. Everything on TV is either “gay, gay, gay” or “black, black, black”.
