Wired Exclusive: Britney Spears Screening of ‘For the record’

I was thrilled to attend the Britney Spears special screening of “For the Record”.
As excited as I was to be in the same room with Britney Spears, I was also saddened to see all the disappointed, yet ticketed fans left outside the venue, a lot of whom traveled very far to be there. It was also very sad to see how much the situation upset Britney.
As you may recall, we reported about 1iota’s approach with the contest, which included a sign-up sheet for tickets, asking people to answer ridiculous questions about their height, weight, body type and even eye color. Fans were even told to wear funky and trendy attire.
Then the winners received an email [see below], asking them to bring more friends to venue — that the Fire Marshall’s had increased the capacity, allowing for more fans to attend. Fans arrived as early as 5:00 a.m., hoping they would be the first to enter.
What they weren’t told?
That they would be hand selected from a long line — chosen like fresh fruit for ripeness, while the less fortunate looking fans remained in line. The chosen ones were then shuttled to a vacant lot, which took about an hour.
While this selection process took place, guess who else waited — Britney Spears. The entire situation upset her to the point of leaving the venue early — can’t say I blame her.
