Cloris Leachman Leaves ‘Dancing With the Stars’

By Karen | October 29, 2008

Dancing With the Stars’ said a sad farewell to it’s oldest ever and funniest contestant Cloris Leachman. Cloris and her partner Corky Ballas were voted off the ABC hit reality show. Her Monday night cha cha scored only a 15 from the judges with Carrie Ann Inaba saying that the dance had no content.

“It seems wrong.” But then, seriously, the veteran actress said, “No, it’s fair. We got very far, I think. I had no idea what I was getting into when I wanted to be on Dancing With the Stars. I’m very pleased and happy. Corky saw me through it all, every step I was supposed to do — or not supposed to do!”

Don’t feel bad for Cloris, she is off to star with Brad Pitt in the Quentin Tarantino World War II drama, ‘Inglorious Bastards’. Even Mel Brooks called and wants Cloris “to come back to Broadway and take over my role in the musical ‘Young Frankenstein’. We’ll talk about that and figure it out.” Not bad for an 82 year old.

DWTS guest judge ‘Lord of the Dance’ Michael Flatley who is filling in for Len Goodman hopes that Cloris has opened the door for more elderly celebrities doing the show. Sounds kinda scary with the curse of DWTS hanging over their heads. Congratulations for hanging on this long Cloris. This means that the fight for the gaudy disco ball trophy will probably come down to Lance Bass and Brooke Burke. Good luck to both!

Julianne Hough hopes to be back dancing in two weeks after her surgery to romove her appendix and a cyst. Julianne is not worried about a scar as they are doing this “laparascopically through my belly button so I won’t have a scar.” Best of luck Julianne and we hope to see you back dancing soon!

I loved that DWTS had an 82 year old comic on the show. It showed the world that it is never too late to start something new, and that there is life after 60 years -old! She brought back entertainment to television!
It is nice to see her doing so well, is truly a great American Icon! I wish her the best!
I think it will come down to Lance, Cody and Brooke. With that said I wish Julianne a speedy and healthy recovery! :)
