Christian Slater Finally Gets His GED
By Karen | October 13, 2008
Former dropout, Christian Slater , decided that finishing high school was important to him. His first goal after getting sober was to graduate high school.
“High school was not something that I remotely took seriously,” he admits. “And now I’ve got these kids and I obviously care for them to get an education, and I want them to take it seriously, so I am going to have to do something.”
Wanting to set a good example to his children, Slater took control of the situation and did something about it. He actually went back to school and got his GED. Slater started working when he was 10 and school just seemed to get less important as he got older. Now that he has 2 kids he realized what he was missing and got busy.
“I had to go to a high school classroom with a bunch of kids getting their GED [General Education Development diploma] . . . it ended up that I squeaked by.”
I must say that I have never been a big Christian Slater fan but this does impress me. I will have to give his new show ‘My Own Worst Enemy’ a try. Way to go Christian!
