Wired Music: The Pixies Plot Possible Return

By Alyk | September 3, 2008

According to NME, we might see the return of one of the greatest indie bands in history. Black Francis, frontman of The Pixies, said the band has been considering reforming to record a new album. This would be the first new disc from The Pixies since 1991’s Trompe Le Monde.

“It’s just a waiting game right now,” Francis said. “Whatever we do in the future is gonna have to be fresh.

“I have to see if the band as a whole wants to go into the recording studio for a new record,” he added. “That makes sense on some level. For us, there’s gotta be an angle. It can’t be just playing our old songs over and over.”

In 2004, Francis rounded up the original members–Kim Deal, David Lovering, and Joey Santiago–for a world tour and a new single, “Bam Thwok,” but the group quickly separated after the tour. Keep your fingers crossed.

Joey begged everyone to get back together or a reunion would never have happened. Even during the first reunion tour Kim and Frank barely spoke off stage. I would love a knew album, but I am happy that I got to see them live with my older sister, who got me into them.

Hmm, I do love the Pixies, but it’s been so long.
