Adrianne Curry: ‘Hurricane Victims are Idiots’

On Sunday Adrianne Curry to her blog to let those devastated by Hurricane Ike think they are “dumbasses” and “idiots.”
Hurricane Victims pay for their own rescues?

I am sorry, but I believe all these people should have to pay the bill for their individual rescues! When they issue a “certain death” warning and you are fucking dumb enough to stay, you do not deserve free aid. I watched people being interviewed on the news claiming they bought a bunch of beer and BBQ to sit through the storm. I bet these same people are crying for help as I type. This is fucking stupid! Why should we have to foot a dime for these dumbasses that ignored these warnings?
FREE transportaion [sic] was provided, many buses left half empty. FREE shelters were provided, many not filled up. People value MONEY and POSESSIONS more than their own lives? IDIOTS!
I feel like we reward stupidity in this country, and this is the perfect example of it. What do you guys think?
edited note:: I never said they should DIE, I said if they value their MONEY and POSSESSIONS more thn their own LIVES they should have to pay for endangering the lives of rescue workers, and sucking up more money this government DOESN’T have. someone claimed they didnt want to lose their job…I wasn’t aware the bank was open that day!”
PS_ My own brother is one of these morons…he sits through hurricanes in Florida. I believe he should pay for his rescue if he needs it. Why should I feel MORE for people who are NOT my own flesh and blood? Your just as crazy and dumb as him, cheesus love him!
Oh…this girl is in for a negative press rodeo.

If free transport and shelter are provided, I’m not sure I disagree with her.
Unlike Katrina, in which a large number of the people who stayed had no way to leave, it appears that in this instance, those that stayed did so purely because they didn’t want to leave.
That’s not to say we shouldn’t help them rebuild (although I have opinions about building in a flood-prone area as well), but rescue? If they put themselves in danger when there were other options, then why shouldn’t there be some consequence when others have to endanger themselves to help them?
And this is from someone who housed 10 people and 3 dogs (in addition to my own 5 and 3) during Katrina.

I agree completely with her. I think she is very compassionate, she’s just not stupid! My wife and I have actually said this same thing, if transportation and shelter are available there is not reason to stay! They issued a certain death warning for the love of God! Why should someone’s family member have to risk dying to save some stupid person who didn’t get the F out of there? She Nailed it!

as a survivor of Hurricane Andrew, we were REALLY stupid to stay. I evacuate every single time I am told now. I think she is right. She isnt saying to refuse them aid, just make them pay

I’m a Texan and I think every idiot that stayed on the gulf coast in a storm as big as our state deserves to suffer for their choice. They are idiots! Why should the rest of us fork out dough to save their butts when they were given orders to evacuate and decided to stay? I’m all for personal responsibility and the best way to force idiots to learn it is at the end of their bank account.
