Wired Music: Liv Tyler’s Ex Auditions for Velvet Revolver
By Alyk | August 1, 2008
Royston Langdon, former Spacehog frontman and estranged husband of Liv Tyler, auditioned for the members of Velvet Revolver to replace singer and drama queen, Scott Weiland.
Since Scott left the super-group in a tiff last April, Slash and Company searched for a proper singer to fill the open position. Royston, who left Brit rock group Spacehog in 2002, flew from New York to LA to audition. Sources claimed Royston hasn’t been asked to join the group yet, but he hit it off with members, and things look positive.
“They all got along great,” says the source. “It was really a refreshing change for the band.”
Although the band’s management wouldn’t confirm whether an offer was made to Langdon, instead saying that they’re still looking at other singers, a source at RCA, Velvet Revolver’s record label, says that the Brit is “definitely in the mix.”
Scott, meanwhile, rejoined his old band, Stone Temple Pilots, for a reunion tour, and they plan to record their sixth studio album in November.
